Managing public health consequences of natural hazards & disasters
 

The top two global targets of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction are reducing mortality from disasters, and reducing numbers of people affected by injury, disease or wider long term issues such as psychosocial wellbeing. This symposium will cover topics such as:

  • The public and environmental health consequences of hazard events
  • NZ's health emergency framework
  • The NZ hazardscape and hazard warning systems
  • Looking after vulnerable populations
  • Learning lessons from recent flood events
  • The latest research on loss modelling from recent hazard events
