Public Health Physician - Toi Te Ora Tauranga

Toi Te Ora Public Health is seeking a public health physician to assist with leading, guiding and assisting with the COVID-19 response and recovery work across both Bay of Plenty and Lakes District Health Boards regions. This is a challenging role based within the Toi Te Ora Public Health clinical team and located in Tauranga. This is a newly developed full time position which is envisaged to be in place for at least 12 months.

You will be responsible for liaising between Toi Te Ora, Bay of Plenty and Lakes DHBs for the purpose of providing public health advice for COVID-19 response and recovery mangement and planning, including advising on contact tracing and surveillance work. In additional you will be working with the two DHBs to provide advice and guidance around the delivery of a cohesive, effective and equitable health system to ensure better health outcomes and patient experience.

Your skills and attributes will include the following:

  • New Zealand Registered Health Professional
  • Relevant Masters level qualification in Public Health or equivalent
  • Competent in integrating Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Māori health models and frameworks into practice
  • The ability to be courageous and be willing to challenge the status quo in a professional manner
  • The ability to see possibilities, potential and tanigble opportunities to create an outstanding and integrated health system
  • High levels of emotional intelligence, communication and interpersonal skills as well as an ability to bring people together towards common goals
  • Strong leadership, coaching, training and development skills
